beijing is the new hollywood

When we’re not busy in the studio, you’ll find us scouring the streets for inspiration (or food). On such sorties we often find things from the sublime to the ridiculous. The above snaps (snapped on our mobile phones) are a few from the last couple of weeks.

Clockwise from Left to Right; The brilliantly named ‘Naan the Nay’ savoury (?) foodstuff – of what it is made, we do not know – but a name to suit many a character from a British alternative comedy sitcom it is. Next up is the lovely man who posed for this photo whilst driving his Cloud City inspired, egg-shaped Sharabang. A good choice of colour we think.

Our local supermarket often supplies us with much welcome ‘multibuy’ deals. To tempt others to their discounted fare they employed these two chipper ladies to entice fellow buyers into the store. An excellent marketing ploy – we’re sure you agree. Last but not least; the witness of a scarce blue-sky-day revealed some lovely Cirrocumulus – of the like we rarely see and we may never see again.

Thanks Beijing.

We’ve been experimenting with some interesting logo animations within Cinema 4D. Here are a few detail grabs so far… (click on a thumb to see the bigger picture). We’re still figuring out the final animation due to the meticulous attention to detail! We’ll post the final version when it’s done.

We’ve been busy collecting references for some up-coming T-shirt designs. Recently we’ve been hitting on some beautiful illustration styles from John Gould’s Lithographic prints from the Mid 19th Century combined with some more contemporary styling from Studio Valistika. We hope our future designs will be appearing around Beijing in the form of Limited Edition Prints and adorning the front of your T-shirts soon.
