Be it images of unicorns in their natural habitat accompanying a Pegasus, Fire goddess showered in roses atop water demons expressing joy, pink dragons adorned in space urchin crowns licking white robed damsels. Or a tasteful depiction of the great Issac Asimov. Rowena creates powerful imagery of powerful things. But the one that topped our list here at 39 is this inexplicable painting of a bear holding a gobblet while a wizard conjures lighting? i guess…and what are those animals looking at? and why is there a mer-man-butterfly? What is the tiny crocodile up to? The bear? the goblet? One can only imagine…and there in lay the true power of ROWENA.
Part 1 of the BMW Joy campaign can be viewed here now! Click picture for link. You can also watch it at bmw-joy.com.cn and post your ideas for how this short film should end. By the time we recover from making this one, it’ll be time to start making the 2nd part.
More style frames for our futuristic web teaser. We’ve combined elements from Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong to create this Blade Runner-esque city scape. The film is starting to take shape but less than 1 week to launch date….
We’re working on a new exciting project! We’re creating an initial web movie teaser and viewers will have the opportunity to suggest endings to the story, which we’ll be making in August.
Here’s our initial style frames for the web based animation piece, expect further updates and the final version to be launched on June 10th.
Here’s collection of images from the upcoming “Inappropriate Golden Books” by the Pixar artist J. Cooley. I can’t wait to get my hands on these. I’d especially love that T-1000 one as a T Shirt. You can find more examples on his site linked above. Enjoy
In a short binge of render-madness we created this little experimental piece. nothing that will end up on the official books but we thought “why not share it on the blog?” so here we are…click on that picture folks.
We’ve been busy collecting references for some up-coming T-shirt designs. Recently we’ve been hitting on some beautiful illustration styles from John Gould’s Lithographic prints from the Mid 19th Century combined with some more contemporary styling from Studio Valistika. We hope our future designs will be appearing around Beijing in the form of Limited Edition Prints and adorning the front of your T-shirts soon.
It’s been a busy launch for us. On top of designing the new web site, cards, identity and stationary, show reels and 100 other incidentals, we’ve been busy making a short film; Rick Stanning and the Billicon Incident.
From the stills below it probably looks like a bunch of people wearing big boxes on their heads but really it’s… well there are people with boxes on their heads yes, but we’re replacing the faces with visual effects and other cool techy thingies.
We’ve just wrapped up the initial filming and we’re into the editing stage, expect Rick Stanning to dance onto a screen near you in 2010. Featuring music by Electric Six and several local Beijing bands. Watch this space for more info.
