Last week, Pratt & Whitney’s Rocketdyne division in Canoga Park announced that it had been awarded $1 million by the Pentagon to design a propulsion system for a flying Humvee. The aim is to “combine the advantages of ground vehicles and helicopters into a single vehicle equipped with flexibility of movement.” Awesome creative brief. Picture links to the full story

Be it images of unicorns in their natural habitat accompanying a Pegasus, Fire goddess showered in roses atop water demons expressing joy, pink dragons adorned in space urchin crowns licking white robed damsels. Or a tasteful depiction of the great Issac Asimov. Rowena creates powerful imagery of powerful things. But the one that topped our list here at 39 is this inexplicable painting of a bear holding a gobblet while a wizard conjures lighting? i guess…and what are those animals looking at? and why is there a mer-man-butterfly? What is the tiny crocodile up to? The bear? the goblet? One can only imagine…and there in lay the true power of ROWENA.
We have just emerged from the dark room where we were developing our website and are pleased to announce that the new site is now live. We hope to expand it as we continue to grow and prosper! Take a look!
All we can say is “Thank you Paul Barnes” after our partial rant about Graphic Design at the World Cup. It seems people are beginning to realise the importance of type design as an underpinning design element and not just an afterthought. After all, we all know what happened with Avatar don’t we?
